A. Seeking some kind person to check first ownership through year 1881 of three parcels of land in what is now Liberty Township, Montgomery county, Kansas. 1. West 1/2, Northwest 1/4. Section 22, Township 33, Range 16 East. (Verdigris City was reportedly created(?) on this tract, and made county seat 3 June 1869 when Montgomery county was split out of Wilson). 2. Southwest 1/4, Section 8, Township 33, Range 17 East. (J H Conrad, in1881) 3. West 1/2, Northeast 1/4 & East 1/2, northwest 1/4, Section17, Township 33, Range 17 East. (Flora, later Shults/z in 1881) I'm seeking names, FLORA, John & Daniel Rice Boon, CONRAD, Hendrix & Henry and SHULTS(Z), Harriette &/or John as early owners. According to Cutler's 1883 history,<http://www.kancoll.org/books/cutler/labette/labette-co-p15.html>, John & Mary E FLORA's daughter, Hattie A, was FIRST white child born in Montgomery , 17 September 1869, even though their son Clarence M was born 22 April 1868 when it was Wilson county. John & brother Daniel FLORA and Hendrix CONRAD are listed in ninth Federal Census 1870 as consecutive household numbers. J H & H W CONRAD with D R B FLORA are among those listed 1868 settlers; <http://www.kancoll.org/books/cutler/montgomery/montgomery-co-p1.html>, also,<http://skyways.lib.ks.us/genweb/archives/1912/m/montgomery_county.html> 27 December 1868, Daniel returns to Fremont Township, Lyon county to marry MARY HOLLINGSWORTH (1851IN-1936CO).B. Any/all information of Clarence M FLORA (1868KS-1824OK) business lost to a fire summer 1892 in Coffeyville, and his first wife Alice (Kingsbury) FLORA who died 6 August 1892, --- couple months before Dalton Gang attempted hold-ups.See 150+ page booklet "OUR FLORA FAMILY" filed February 2006 at; Montgomery County Genealogical Society, Kansas Room, Independence Public Library, Kansas State Historical Society, and others.
