Searching for ancestors of Mathew Lafayette Ward, b. Oct 1841 in Greene Co Alabama. Died 10 Dec 1938 in Hollis, OK; buried in Texas in Parker Co. Mathew had 5 wives, but I am descended from Crockett Nelson Ward, 2nd son of second wife Melvina Sophronia (Queenie) Alexander; Crockett was born Oct. 1875 in Gatesville, Coryell Co. TX, and "Queenie" was born Jan 1852 in Mississippi. Mathew and Queenie were married Aug 1872??? (this date is questionable). I have traced Mathew to an 1850 Census of Greene Co AL living with Mary, age 67, b. SC., James/13, Emily/12, Matthew/8, Mary/23, all born in AL.
