My Greatgrandfather, Lindorf BUTTS, was one of the early casualties of the Civil War, and died on February 18, 1863 at Nashville while serving with the Union Illinois Infantry. The National Cemetery does not have him listed, but his records from the National Archives (of which I have copied the whole slew) show he is buried in the Nashville Cemetery (which, from the date of death, I presume must be the City Cemetery) grave location "W 3554". I've wanted for years to get to Nashville to see his grave, but it is a long way from Crescent City CA. I can't find any on-line resources for the City Cemetery. I'm looking for someone who can give me any advice regarding verification of the correct cemetery. Even better would be a volunteer to take a digital photo of his grave for me. Thanks for any help or advice. Regards - Cathy | |||||||||||||||||||||||||
