Query Text: |
HALL John, born 1811 Grimesthorpe, Rotherham. Married Ann Marshall 30 July 1838 Rotherham. Who were John's parents? Did John & Ann's daughter, Mary Elizabeth, have a husband and what was his name? Was it John? At the moment it looks like Mary's son James Henry was illegitimate as no father is on either the birth cert., or the christening details. On James Henry's mar., cert.,( 17/9/1888 Handsworth Woodhouse) his father is given as John Hall deceased, Blacksmith. James Henry married Elizabeth Hirst and they were living at Talbot Road, Woodhouse at the time of their marriage. There is also a possibility that James later married Elizabeth's sister,Mary Ann Hirst but he used his middle name of Henry!! He is with Elizabeth on the 1881 census as James H. Hall but on the 1901 it is looking like he used 'Henry' and is with Mary plus his two children to Elizabeth (Annie and Beatrice) as well as his children to Mary ( George and Albert) Then there is the mystery of Elizabeth living with James Cawthorne ( in Darnall, Sheffield) and possibly having his children, Alfred b. 21/9/1901 Sheffield( my grandad) and Sydney ( my grt. uncle), but using the surname of Hall for the children. Very confusing and still under investigation. Any help much appreciated!!!!!!!!!!! | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
