LANEY marriage- between David Laney and Nancy Blakeney. Where and when and what proof is available? David LANEY, b 1789/90 SC d. 1857 GA, age 60, appears with some of his family members in the 1850 US Census of Harris County, GA. The list includes Nancy [wife] b. SC, age 60; John [son] age 20, b. SC; Rachel [LANEY] BLACKMAN [daughter], age 28, b. SC and her two Blackman children, Sarah A., 9, born GA and Amy, 6, b. GA. Also with the group was William B. Cambel 8, b. GA In David’s last will & testament, he leaves his land and appurtenances. He leaves his grandchildren various sums of money. He gives his wife, NANCY, usufruct of all his other properties, including his slaves with the stipulation that following her death, all +be equally divided among all of his children with the exception of Frances LANEY, wife of Hargett. To Frances he gives only $500, not because, as he says, that he does not love her, but because of the mistreatment of himself and her mother by her Hargett husband.
