BROWN/BRAUN family in Fayette Co., PA area in or before 1772. I am looking for the parents of Coleman Brown, listed with men in Springhill, Fayette Co., PA in 1772 as a boarder. He is also listed as an early settler of Marion Co., VA in the West VA history. There is no connection with the Culpeper or Essex Co., VA Brown lines, DNA proof. His name may have been spelled several different ways because of the possible German connection: Coleman = Kohlman or Cohlman or Colban Brown = Braun. He was killed in an Indian raid led by Chief Logan on 07/12/1774 in an area near Simpson's Creek, Monongalia Co. VA [now West Va]. Both historical reocrds list his name as spelled "Coleman Brown". His son, William "Billy" Brown, born 1773, married Elizabeth Hornbeck, daughter of Michael Hornbeck Sr. and Clemency Amos. Any information about "Coleman Brown" would be appreciated. Thank you. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
