George S. Annear was born 1822 in New York but was living in the Florida territory by 1850 in the Stephens household. He married widow Margaret Stephens in 1844 and had a daughter, Eliza Annear, in 1845 in Florida, who is my great-grandmother; Eliza married Richard Wilmot and had a daughter, Lillian Wilmot, my grandmother. George Annear later married Civil Stephens and had more children. He was a Confederate sergeant killed in the Civil War in 1864 in Wilderness, VA. George S. Annear is found in 1850 and 1860 censuses in Jefferson County, Florida, Waukenah post office. It is not known where he was in 1830 and 1840. I would like to find the ancestors of George S. Annear and also to find out what happened to his wife and other children -- twins William and June, Mary A., twins Samuel and Laura. All children were born in Florida except two middle ones born in Alabama. The family may have moved to Alabama, then back to Florida, and later to Louisiana. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
