My grandfather, Jake Shifflett was born in Elkton, Va. in Rockingham county. I am trying to find out about his grandfather, William Hiden Shifflett. I understand that different generations have different ways of spelling thier last name. I found my great grandfather's, George Minor Shifflett, marriage certificate and William spelt his name with one F and one T. William was born circa 1839 and I heard that he served in the Virginian Army during the Civil War. If anyone might have a clue, I would appreciate the help. Bruce E.
