I am searching for information on Constantine Duebler. Constantine was born around 1820 in either Germany or Russia. He emigrated to the United States and was living in St. Luke's Parish, Beaufort Co., South Carolina by 1844. He married Mehala. What was her maiden name? Constantine and Mehala had the following children: Oswald K, Francis, Catherine, Albertine, Archibald, William, John and Anza. Constantine was a cornet in the South Carolina Calvary, and later a private in Company C and D during the Civil War. After the war, Constantine and Mahala were living in Savannah, Georgia with their daughter Albertine and her husband Charles W. Harper. I have them tracked until 1870, but then I can find no more information. Information on children is as follows. Anza was living with her brother William C in Savannah in 1870. I don't know if she was married before, but strongly suspect it. Anza married Alexander Gaston Knight in the early 1880's and had a child in 1886 in Grahamville, South Carolina. She moved with her father to Baltimore. They were in Baltimore as late as 1900. The children stayed (Alexander Clinton, Julius Oswald, Clarence Dixon) but oral history says that Anza and Alexander Gaston moved back to South Carolina. The William C Duebler mentioned before married a Margaret and died before 1888 in Savannah. Albertine married a Charles W Harper, a fireman for CRR, and lived in Savannah. They had at least one child, John born in 1870. Catherine died before 1860. I have not been able to discover any information about Oswald K, Francis, Archibald C or John H.
