My father, Howard Grovenor Hopkins Thompson had a step-father named Charles Edwin Thompson who was born in McIndoe Falls, VT (Caledonia County) on July 16, 1870. His parents were Thomas Thompson and Mary Ann Young. Charles died in 1933 or 1934 after suffering a stroke. He was the owner of Thompson Products in Cleveland, OH that later became the "T" in TRW, a huge aeronautical manufacturing company. CE began his career as a welder and invented a valve that opened up the aeronautical industry for long range flight (making Charles Lindburgh's flight possible, etc.) He provided the trophy and prize money for the Thompson Trophy Races in CLeveland, OH (Jimmie Doolittle was one of the fliers). He was very wealthy, owning the Chateau Gloria in Cap Ferrat, St. Jean, France and several other homes. His ashes were scattered by personal friend Jimmie Doolittle after his death. I would like to find more info on him and his family. My grandmother, Georgia May Rust "Gloria" from Manchester, NH, was his 3rd wife. They had one son together (not biological) named Thomas Waring Thompson who disappeared from the family MANY years ago and after the death of his father, CE. I am looking for him also. CE had a son named Edwin Groot Thompson who was by a previous marriage and in business with him. I have just started my search with the help of a good friend who knows how to search better than I do.
