I am looking for info on Ann E. Ellis b. S.C. and her daughter Mary Ivey,b. Ga., who are listed in the 1880 Russell County, Alabama census, Girard, Beat 1. Ann is 54 and Mary is 31. Both are widowed. Also listed are Ann's daughter Selena and Mary's three children. Names are hard to read, but looks like Alice, Alonzo, and Lillie. Ann is listed as keeping house, and Selina and Mary are Cotton Mill workers. Ann's husband was Thomas J. Ellis, b. N.C., abt. 1825. Her maiden name is McCraken, dau. of Robert and Mary McCracken (1850 Barbour County census).I don't know Mary's husbands first name. Ann, Thomas, and Mary are listed in Barbour County, Al. in 1850, and Lumpkin (Stewart County), Ga. in 1860. Thomas had died by the 1870 census, but Ann is still listed in Stewart Co., Ga., with three children, Louise (19), Salina 14, and George (18). I don't have a listing for Mary in 1870, but must have been married at the time, I believe that Louise is my great-grandmother, though I have not proven this. Another child, Jordan (2) is listed with them in the 1860 census, but must have died, since he doesn't appear on later census records. If anyone has any info on this family, or would like more info., please contact me through this messageboard, or at dadsroots@webtv.net.Any info would be appreciated.
