I would love to hear from any descendant of THOMAS and MARY NEWELL. They were in ARK as early as 1829 in St. Francis Co. They were living in Randolph Co when Thomas died leaving a will naming wife MARY, and 6 little children, ELIZABETH (who married MILFORD SAUNDERS), MARY ANN (POLLY), PERNESA, NATHAN (who married NANCY COOK in Prairie Co AR), URIAH J.(who married LAURAH SHERROD)and THOMAS M. In 1840 Mary moved the children to Prairie County, Caroline Township, (Cabot, Lonoke, Old Austin area) Caroline twp. was also in Lonoke and Pulaski Counties at other times. Elizabeth and Milford Saunders-Sanders moved to MO. Nathan and Nancy were in the 1860 Jefferson Co census but by 1870 she and the three children, Mary E.P, John and Thomas M. were back in Prairie Co near Mary and Thomas. Mary E.P. married a HUDDLESTON and they are buried in Lonoke, AR. Uriah J. and Laurah moved to Sheridan, Grant Co. He was a pioneer Baptist preacher. They later moved to Buck Range in Howard Co where they are buried in Liberty Cemetery. Uriah J. was born in 1832 in Randolph Co and died in 1905 in Howard Co. LAURAH SHERROD NEWELL was the daughter of SALATHIEL SHERROD and was born in Miss. I need to know Mary's maiden name--What happened to Pernece and Mary Ann (Polly) and Thomas M? Thomas M was in the Civil War but I found no war record for Nathan What happened to Nathan and Nathan's children, John and Thomas M? Who are the parents-siblings of THOMAS NEWELL? I suspect he might be related to SAMUEL, WILLIAM, and JOHN C. NEWELL who were mentioned in the Ark. Territorial Papers. One of these man lived fairly close to Caroline Township.
