My great grandfather was Moses N. Solomon. He was born in 1805 in NC. I have not been able to find who his parents were and if he had siblings, I have not found those. There is some connection between Moses and the family of Sam and Woodruff Solomon, who went to TX from TN. They were described by an uncle as second or third cousins. Moses was in Fentress County, TN by probably the late 1820's. He married Nancy Woolsey and his first child was born in 1831. All his children were born in Fentress County; he is on the 1840 and 1850 census there; in 1850 there is a Sarah Owen living in the household; am not sure of her relationship, if any. In probably the late 1850's his wife died and he remarried in 1860 in Wayne County, KY and was on the 1860 census there. After that, he is not to be found. He had 8 children and I have good information on 3 of them and scant information on a fourth. One son was mentally retarded so he never married or had children. My grandfather, his brother and one sister moved to TX in the 1870's and then on to OK, where they all lived for many years and died there. One sister, Martha, married John Culver and was in MO in 1880; she had two children, James and Ellen. I know nothing more about her. He had other daughters, Mary, Eda and Sally, but because the marriage records were destroyed during the Civil War, I don't know who or if they married.
