Searching for John Aitken from Scotland who came to USA in 1852 and lived in Carbondale PA. Died in 1877 at age 84. Newspaper article says he married Ellen Pollack who died at age 80 shortly before his death. Children were: John killed near Scranton PA at about 30 years old, Ellen Law living at Pittston PA, David my great great grandfather born 1823 in Glasgow Scotland, Valentine who died in Oakland CA, Janet who married George Stephens of Susquehanna County PA, and James who resided in Wilkesbarre PA. Article was written in 1901. David married Jeanette Hampton Gillespie who was born in Denfreese Scotland, September 29 1832. Marriage date is May 10 1849 at Carbondale PA. I have her parents listed as either, James or William Gillespie and mother as Elizabeth Hampton. John was a land owner in PA of 120 acres.
