I too am interested in the middle name and date of birth of my grandmother, Phebe M. Boss. Her middle name remains a mystery. I have determined that Phebe attended school in Washington County RI about 1864. I will be contacting the school department in the hopes that their records will show a middle name. As far as the date of birth is concerned, in spite of the fact that RI birth records show a Peter Boss born November 3, 1850, I am convinced that this is Phebe. Reasons: 1. Phebe's age always ends in a 9 in all federal censuses, and ends in a 4 in the RI census reports of 1855, 1865 and 1875. 2. Phebe's death report shows Nov 3, 1850, info supplied to Windham County by my father, Nason Edward Arnold. I am convinced that the notation in RI should have shown Phebe, not Peter. This birth is the only one recorded from the Henry C. Boss/Julia Ann Webster marriage. Phebe was the oldest surviving child of this marriage. There is information on Ancestry.com regarding a child being born and died on the same day in 1849; because of this, I am guessing that Henry and Julia Ann were married in 1848. There is another entry regarding these questions on Phebe M. Boss on this website. I would like to contact the person who submitted those questions to compare notes, and I am also hopeful that those questions were asked by one of my cousins, children of Frank Ernest Arnold (the only other child of Phebe) and Florence May Bader. Is/way there a family bible? Phebe married George Amasa Arnold on December 25, 1889 in Windham CT. They were divorced in 1895 or 1896.
