Seeking lineage information for my GGGG grandfather David Blackwell of the late 1700’s, Robeson Township, Berks Co. PA. David’s Possible Relatives: • Hugh Blackwell, ca. 1740’s in Bethel, Chester County; second husband to Elizabeth Foulk (nee Cope); Elizabeth died 3/4/1762 in Bethel and was listed as a widow (Hugh predeceased her?) • George Blakewell [Blackwell] and Francis Blackwell; both signed the PA Oath of Allegiance in 1777 in Berks County, PA. George served in the Militia of Berks County, PA (June 1780-July 1781), and paid taxes in Robeson Township in the 1770’s. • Elizabeth Moore, born Blackwell, wife of John Moore, died April 7, 1848 in Berks County, aged 83 years (b. 1765?) • Elizabeth Blackwell (b.1767?) and William Blackwell (b.1781?), both died [?] in Tredyffrin Twp, Chester County after 1850, aged 83+ and 69+, respectively • Nancy Blackwell, born 1783, died in Berks County, 1811, aged 28 years. • Solomon Blackwell, married Peggy Trait in Berks Co. on June 4, 1832 • John W. and Emma E. Blackwell. Both are buried in the Zion Lutheran Church cemetery in Frackville, PA…burial plaque shows no dates. James Blackwell, brother to my GG Grandfather Thomas, is also buried at this cemetery (along w/his wife, daughter and some descendants). David’s Family/Descendants: In1797, David Blackwell married Elisabeth Maurer. David and family first show up in the 1800 census for Robeson, Berks Co. He was born between 1757 and 1774, and they last appear in the 1830 census for Cumru Township, Berks Co. (a son David may be the HOH in 1830). David and Elisabeth had the following children: • Nelly Bleckwell [Blackwell], born 1797, baptized January 2, 1798. Sponsor = Maria Maurer. • Johannes Blekwell [John Blackwell], my GGG Grandfather, born May 26, 1799, baptized October 16, 1799. Sponsor = Johannes Maurer. • Jacob Bleckwell [Blackwell], born July 23, 1802, baptized August 30, 1802. Sponsors = Jacob Lepo and Catharina Maurer. • Elisabetha Bleckwell [Blackwell], born November 22, 1804, baptized September 1, 1805. Sponsors = Phillip and Elizabetha Maurer. • A son of David Bleckwell [Blackwell], born August 13, 1802, died January 3, 1804 (the Jacob, listed above as born on July 23, 1802?). • Susanne Blackwell died November 28, 1808, aged 1 year and 12 days. • “A child” Bleckmen [Blackwell], born October 27, 1809, baptized May 20, 1810. Sponsors = Jacob Maurer and Sarah Klas. • Margaret Blackwell, born October 18, 1811, baptized October 25, 1812. God Parents = Samuel Fries and Magdalena Jost. • Maria Blackwell, born 9 September, 1817, baptized October 19, 1817. God Parents = Michael Groves and XXX. • “Child” Blackwell died in 1818 at the age of 6 years, 5 months and 24 days (the Margaret listed above?). Johannes Blekwell [John Blackwell] was my GGG grandfather. On August 10, 1822, John married Eve M’Quick of Robeson (other records indicates her name was Eva, and that her surname was McQuade or McGinty). John and family first show up in the 1830 census for Cumru, Berks Co, PA, and last show up in the 1860 census for Minersville, Schuylkill Co. PA. John and Eve/Eva had the following children: • Phillip, b. 1826? • Thomas b. September19, 1827 (my GG Grandfather; married Vashti Casselberry, CW veteran, died 1891, buried at Hall’s Station, Muncy Township, Lycoming Co. PA) • Elizabeth, b December 19, 1829 • James, b. January 11, 1832; married Margaret; died 1909, buried at the Zion Lutheran cemetery, Frackville, PA. • Solomon, b. 1833? • Anna, b. 1834? • Catharine, b. 1839?
