Query Text: |
From my understanding the Haithcock lineage is no small matter & the name itself has more than just 4 different spellings. My grandfather, John Haithcock had 8 brothers & 3 sisters. He hailed from the Chapel Hill, Durham N.C. area from what I understand. He married Muriel Alene Tilley (my grandmother), also from the same area. She, being 100 years of age at present tells tales of the family that I didn't know was so. Apparently, one of my grandfather's great aunts was married to James K. Polk. As well, On my grandmother's side, her grandfather was good friends with the one & only Robert E. Lee. One might say hogwash to an average individual who spouted these things, but if you knew how devout a christian my grandmother was, you'd think twice about not believing her. Out of curiousity, I was wondering if there were any Tilleys or Nichols from that area of North Carolina that may be distant cousins. Seeing as how my grandmother's family slightly disowned her when she married John, as he wasn't of the same status in society. The Tilleys were fairly well off Tobacco farm owners, while the Haithcocks were mostly sharecropers, We were not introduced to but a small handful of people by these names & it'd be nice to know if we do in fact have some sort of extended family. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
