I am trying to trace ancestors on both sides of my family. My father's name was Harold W. Feder of NYC, his father I believe was Benjamin Feder who immigrated to the US from Vienna, Austria in the late 1800s/early 1900s. His wife/my grandmother was Fay Feder/ ne Fertig of New York City. Mother's side: My mother's name is Edith Feder/ ne Herman. Her father was Mayer Herman of Philadelphia, supposedly immigrated to the US from the Ukraine as a small child. His wife/my grandmother was Mildred Herman ne Osder, originally of Poland (Bialystock) or Germany, immigrated as a child. Lastly, my mother insists that a great uncle of hers told her when she was little that one side of the family is descended from Felix Mendelssohn. Personally I think the story is bogus but I'd either like to confirm it as true or lay this family "history" story to rest once and for all. Any help would be sincerely appreciated. Thanks and Regards, Rick Feder | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
