My grandmother's family seems to have dropped off the face of the map! She later moved to Washington, DC, married several times, and died there in the 1970. I am trying to find information on her mother and siblings who appear on the 1920 Census for Diamond Hill, Abbeville, SC. (District 9). The mother's married name was ANNA STROTHER (b. 1865). She was a widow as of 1920. Her children are as follows: WALTER STROTHER - 1896 BEULAH STROTHER - 1903 (my grandmother) BESSY LEE STROTHER - 1904 GRANT STROTHER - 1910 DAVID STROTHER - 1915 THOMAS B. STROTHER - 1917 WILLIAM STROTHER - 1919 They were Black/Negro but may be closely descended from Native American and African. WALTER STROTHER registered for the WWI Draft on or about September 13, 1918. This, and the 1920 Census, are the only records that I can find for this family. None of the other men seem to have registered for the WWII Draft. It's almost as if the whole family perished. My father, ANNA's grandson, is 87 now and has very limited memory of his mother's family. I have exhausted all resources available via Ancestry.com. I would appreciate any information on this matter. Thanks so much. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
