ROWLEY | |||||||||||||||||||||||||
Query Text: |
My earliest ancestor in Australia was Capt Thomas Rowley who was the quartermaster of the NSW Corps which was the regiment formed to support the governor in Sydney. This was 1804. He formed a liason with a convict woman (my ancestor) what I would like to know is where he came from in UK and if there was a legitimate wife and family. Family properties were called Cecil Park, Chipping Norton and Kingston if that is a clue. I know that often holding in a new country were named for familiar places in homeland. I know he died in Australia and did not return to UK and is buried in Waverley Cemetery. His Australian property was left to the children of his convict partner of which one was my forebear. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||
