Looking for Alice Rains born Kentucky abt.1856. The story is she was half indian and living with the Indians until the mounted calvalry came through and a soldier (allegedly a physician and his wife-Dr. Archibald Scott and Susan Scott) rescued her and adopted her. She had a lockett on her neck that said Rains. She was rescued some where around the Iowa border (or so the story goes). there is a story that an Indian Chief went to the settlers store along with a brave and the clerk started asking questions about the child he had with him who looked white and had blue eyes. The brave turned to the Chief and said something to the effect of "Chief Rain's it's time to go" and they left. The settlers wanted the child back but were afraid of the Indians so they asked Dr. Scott to help as he was friends of the Indians and had treated their sickenesses before. She went on to marry John M. Bair and lived in Missouri. Her name was Alice.
