Query Text:

I am an adoptee looking for my birthmother. The only info that I have is from my adoptive parents (Jo & Hap (PC) Holladay) and non-identifying info received from the adoption agency (Children's Bureau of South Carolina) more than 12 years ago. I was born July 29, 1959 in Greenville, SC at Greenville General Hospital. Doctor was W.C. Hearin, Jr (whom I doubt is still in practice). I weighed 7#13.5oz and 20" long. No complications. I developed a transient heart murmur which delayed my discharge for a few days. I was taken care of in 3 separate boarding houses around Columbia, SC before permanent placement took place to M/M P.C. Holladay at 911 Mimosa Dr. Florence, SC on September 4, 1959. Adoption finalized on October 4, 1960 in Family Court in Florence County. Adoptive parent's attorney's were John Scott and/or W.H. Blackwell of Florence, SC. BIRTHMOTHER INFO: Height 5'10" Weight 124# Hair: dark blonde Eyes: blue. She had a very outgoing personality and very easy to talk to. She spoke very intelligently and caseworker notes one could tell she came from a family of "means." She dressed impeccably. During last 3 months (06/15-08/15) of her pregnancy her mother & step-father arranged for her a small apartment on the 15th floor across from the library parking lot in Greenville, SC where she was listed under an alias. She was 30 years old and born in 1929. I have no name. She lived in another town/city other than Greenville, SC. The non-ID info states several times that her mother came "over" to visit every Monday, so her hometown couldn't have been that far away (possibly Spartanburg???). My birtmother was gifted as an artist and photographer. She graduated from ? High School in 1947 and continued her eduacation in art & photography at ? College where she finished he "special work" in 1953. She had worked at ? Club as International Travel Counselor for 3 years, then she worked as an executive secretary for 2 VP's and Chairman of Board of ? Bank. She was a member of A.I.B. (American Institute of Banking). She taught Jr. High Sunday School at a Presbyterian Church. She drove a French made sports car. To fill her time while in apartment she worked on sketches. One for a children's book that her Aunt was writing. Other skethches were for a children's book that she herself was writing for 4-5 year olds. Caseworker states skethes were very professional. BIRTHFATHER INFO: Height 6'2" Weight ? Hair: Blonde Eyes: Grey. Very athletic playing football in high school & college. Single. Worked for insurance company as a "knockout" salesman. He liked the movies and watching television. He was member of a Baptist Church. Very domineering person. Birthmother states "self-centered & egotistical." He was never told about the pregnancy. He lived in same town as birthmother.
