I am trying to get details of my ancestor John Hamersley who was transported for life in 1838 for wounding a policeman in London. He arrived in Tasmania on The Gilmore in early 1839. He originated from Bethnal Green area in London UK and was born about 1815. He got his conditional pardon in 1851 and then (possibly) married Mary Cummings from Westbury, Tasmania. They had a son Thomas in 1859. Mary died in 1860 but where did she die? John next turns up in Bendigo (Sandhurst) Victoria in 1871. Marries Susanna Cox in 1872. Children Patrick 1873 - 1874 and Elizabeth 1876 - ?. John died in Bendigo Hospital in 1886. Has anyone got these names in their family trees?
