REV EDWARD IRVING BRN 1792 ANNAN, PARENTS GAVIN & MARY IRVING, HIS COUSIN ELIZA WHO MRD MR THOMPSON IN ANNAN ARD 1821, 2ND JAMES POOL ARD 1830 IN ANNAN. QUESTION - WHAT IS THE MAIDEN NAME OF ELIZA? I recently learned that my 3GR grandmother Eliza Pool was brn ard 1801 in Annan Scotland & that she was the cousin of Rev Edward Irving brn in 1792 to Gavin & Mary Irving of Annan. That would mean that either her mother or father was a brother or a sister of either his mother or father, but which? Records available for search start in 1841 so I will have to depend on parish records or someone who is researching the same families to make a connection. I know that Eliza was first mrd to a Mr Thompson in Annan ard 1820 and they had two children Mary Thompson brn ard 1822 in Annan & John Thompson brn ard 1825 in Annan. Mary Thompson mrd a William Black ard 1839 in Cumberland & John Thompson mrd Elizabeth Messenger ard 1868 in Aspatria. I am assuming that Mr Thompson died because Eliza then marries James Pool in Annan ard 1830. Their son Robert Pool was brn ard 1832 in Annan. James & Eliza Pool are then found in Aspatria, Cumberland, Wigton District ard 1833? as their daughter Eliza Pool was brn their in July of 1834 James Pool was a Clogger & he died in Aspatria in 1846 at the age of 44. Eliza Pool died in Aspatria in 1865 at the age of 64. So, for anyone who likes a gen mystery & a good search I am asking for your help.
