BAMFORD : BAMFORTH : BAUMFFORD
Query Text: |
BAMFORD of Derbyshire and Staffordshire 1500/1600s "Richard Bamford was confirmed as “Keff” of Langley Park also for his lifetime – he was probably nephew of Nicholas Bamford who died in 1558. Assuming it is the same Richard, there was a curious incident in 1553 when William Basset accused Richard Baumfford, Thomas Cootes, James Harreson and John Green alias Hedmarker of driving cattle out of Langley Park . The connections with the Bamford family continued and Thomas Bamford is mentioned by William (V) Basset’s solicitor in 1601. Later in the 17th century Thomas Bamford was granted a lease of Parkhall, Cheadle, in recognition of his long service to William (V) and Judith his wife and then to Henry Howard and his wife Elizabeth née Bassett". I would like to make contact to anyone else who is researching this early family. Please. David Swinscoe
