I am looking for information on David Dewey, born 1827 and died 1909. David Dewey was born Aug 6, 1827 near Oswego, New York. He was the second youngest child of six. His family moved to Canada when he was a small child. In the 1870 census, he listed his mother as being foreign born. He was orphaned at the age of eight when his mother died. He was left to do for himself at an early age. He worked on a farm for a while and at the age of eighteen was bound over to learn the craft of wagon making. David married Emily Elliott, Nov 28, 1853, in Avon, Lorain County, Ohio by Rev. Watkin. He and Emily moved to Morenci in 1854. He served in the Civil War.
