My Dad's family came from Stanly County and I am researching the surnames of: Honeycutt,Huneycutt, Huneycutt, Hunnicutt, BURRIS,ROBBINS as they relate to George Honeycutt and Jane Elizabeth Burris Honeycutt's family. I am a descendant of this Stanly County family line. The spelling of Honeycutt has been listed all three ways, but since my family spells the name with an "O," I am listing the names that way. The name was spelled Hunnicutt as recently as 1940, but when my Dad and uncles went into the military in WWII, the spelling was changed. (Dad and Mom's marriage license was spelled "Hunnicutt") There is a huge gap in my family tree and I am trying to solve this family mystery. It is my hope that those on this list can help me. I have census documentation that lists my great grandmother in the family home of George Honeycutt. She was too young to be a child of his, so must be a grandchild. I have listed that census at the end of the family descendant list. Her name was Nettie Brazilla or Brasilla Honeycutt, but was also called "Sis." Her son, an only child, and my grandfather, was Adam Pettigrew Honeycutt, born May 5, 1878 in Big Lick/Stanly County, NC. Adam's parents never married. His father was Solomon Franklin Robbins, Jr., a neighbor of the Honeycutt's and the son of Solomon and Sarah Robbins. I have Nettie's approximate birth year according to her death certificate as about 1861. She died on May 2, 1926. Frank Robbin's approximate year of birth was about 1856. I am looking for Nettie's father's and mother's names. That missing piece of puzzle has escaped me for decades and is my biggest genealogical brick wall. Nettie died May 2, 1926 in Union County, but no one knows her burial site. I assume it is also Union County, but since her roots are in Stanly, it may be there. My main objective is to find Nettie's parent's names and her place of burial? I am certain that George and Elizabeth are our family. I recently was given an old journal that belonged to my grandparents and have newer information including births and deaths of the family members is listed below. This was in my grandmother's handwriting: "Solomon S. Honeycutt died June 29, 1862 age 28 years 9 months 23 days Elizabeth Honeycutt wife of George Honeycutt died October the 17th 1869 age was 64 years 4 months and 15 days." Another page was crumbled and torn and had this information: "...mes H Robins was bornd December 24, 188(5?) I think this is James Houston ...ret E Melton was bornd Sept 5 188(8?) James Houston's wife? ...n L Tucker was bornd Apr 30 18(98?) ...a B Tucker was bornd Jan 21 19(00?) Millard A Tucker was bornd nov 21 1907 or 8 Mary C Tucker was bornd Oct 29 1924 .ohn H Tucker was bornd Oct 18 1909" Nettie was listed in census records in the household of George and Jane Elizabeth Hunnicutt/Honeycutt. I think she may have been a granddaughter, but have no proof of who her parents were. She was also listed in Mecklenburg County census with her Aunt Elizabeth and son Adam. Children's names of George and Elizabeth are: Nancy R. Deada L. Obedience Elizabeth Judith A. Wilmith A. Solomon S. Ambrose J. Ervin Reuben George Hiram For Frank Robbins, I have the following information: parents: Solomon Robbins and Sarah(?) their children: William R Robbins Caroline Frances Robbins Martha Isabel Robbins Franklin Solomon Robbins Sarah Robbins George Washington Robbins Elizabeth C.
