I want all Cheatham's to be aware of an e-mail scam called 419 from Nigeria or outside the U.S. Alert on Bogus Inheritance Rights The Embassy of the Federal Republic of Nigeria wishes to alert members of the public to the increasing trend of fraudulent solicitations concerning bogus Nigerian inheritance rights. By such fraudulent proposals, the fraudsters inform their intended victims that an unknown relative had died in Nigeria as a result of an airplane crash, a motor vehicle accident, or other means and bequeathed large amounts of money usually in millions of dollars, to such relatives or next of kin. What follows is a string of endless demands from the fraudsters for the victims to pay for several documentation fees such as court, mortuary, probate, legal, corpse release, Central Bank levies and taxes, attorney's fees, e.t.c. In some cases the losses incurred by the victims have run into substantial amounts of money. The inheritance scam has become a frequent occurrence. Members of the public are hereby strongly advised to be wary of such criminal solicitations. When in doubt about such or other questionable proposals, please seek clarification from the Embassy or from the US law enforcement agencies. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||
