My Great Grandmother was Delphine Georgina Stark born in 1872, Berkshire, LONDON (SE), London, There is very little that i know about her She gave birth to Arthur Stark. Born on 28th January 1897 at Clapham Maternity. On his birth certificate she is listed as G.D stark (Georgina Delphine Stark) so looks like she might have changed her name later to Delphine. There is no father listed on Arthurs birth certificate but she later married my Grandfather whoose name was also Arthur and she became Delphine Georgina Eade. Delphine Georgina Starks residence in 1897. 71 Cottage Grove, Clapham, London, ladies maid. Residence at time of marriage 1900, 1 Hamburgh Place, High Street, Sydenham. It looks like she lived with Alice E Piggott and her husband Henry Piggott who also lived at this address (as per 1901 census). Alice E Piggott was a wet nurse. Listed at Witness at Delphines marriage. Also witness was D Causley? I have looked into this and it looks like part of a church building where illigitemate mothers went. By 1901 Delphine and her son Arthur had moved in with her new husband Arthur Frank Eade who was a police constable and living in Shoreditch in police lodgings. The marriage was on 22nd Febuary 1900 between Arthur Eade (30 years) and Delphine Georgina Stark. (28 years) Delphines father on the certificate is listed as Albert Stark (Deceased) Other witnesses where Alice E Piggot and D Crawley. I have looked for an Albert Stark who could have been her father and came up with the following. 1871 census living in St Matthew, St Marylebone, London as a butler with 'Julia' who was the ladies maid. He is listed as being born in 1843, Berkshire, England. He is listed as occupation:Valet on the marriage certificate of his daughter Delphine Georgina. A Valet was similar to a butler so would fit with my findings. Julia (Albet Starks wife)? 1871 Census working as a ladies maid at 19 Little Exela Street, Marylebone, London and birth place listed as either Berne, Switzerland. This is as far as i have got so if anyone has more to comment please get in touch Thanks Lucy | |||||||||||||||||||||||||
