BIRTH FAMILY NON-ID INFO You were placed with your adoptive parents on 3/21/1975, and your adoption was finalized on 4/1/1976. Your “mother is not married nor ready for responsibilities of motherhood”. You were born in Morganton, NC, at 11:07 am on February 14, 1975. You weighed 6 pounds, 15 ¼ ounces at birth, and were 20 ½ inches long. Your APGAR was 10. Your head circumference was 13 ¾ inches. Your chest measured 13 inches. Your blood type was A positive. Your mother received good prenatal care and signed parental consent to adoption at your birth. Her pregnancy was full term and there were no complications at birth. You were released from the hospital on 2/18/1975 and placed in a foster home. On March 13, 1975, you were described as: “a very handsome baby with dark hair and bluish-gray eyes. He is alert and seems to listen intently when someone is talking to him. He is now eating about four times a day and taking three to four ounces of Enfamil each feeding. He also is beginning to eat some cereal.” You were described as “very alert and observant”. At three weeks old, you weighed 7 pounds, nine ounces; you were 21 ¼ inches long; your head circumference was 14 ¼ inches. NATURAL FATHER Your father was in the Army. We know only that he was American, Caucasian, and in good health. Your father was not married to your mother. Your “father is presently [March 1975] in the United States Army. He is a white male. No other information could be obtained about him.” NATURAL MOTHER Your Mother was born in May, and was 17 years old at the time of your birth. She is American, Caucasian, and was in good health when you were born. She had completed 10th grade when you were born. She was unemployed and living with her father at that time. Your mother was the second of four children born to her parents, who had been separated since she was a small child. She was described as: “an attractive, young, unmarried girl with light brown hair and greenish-gray eyes.” “The mother grew up in her mother’s home, however, she did spend some time with her father. Her father is remarried for the second time, and he and his wife have children of their own.” “The mother has another child, age one year, eight months, who was also born out of wedlock. She has worked and gone to school until she became pregnant with [you] and has been the main source of support for herself and her other child.” “The mother was in the eleventh grade when she dropped out of school because she was pregnant with [you]. She seems fairly bright and intelligent, although at times, has not always been realistic in dealing with her problems.” “The mother is in good health and has never had any medical problems.” MATERNAL GRANDMOTHER “[Your] maternal grandmother is in her mid 30’s. She is a rather unstable, immature, inadequate mother and has always put her own needs above those of her children. She remarried for the second time recently [March 1975] to a young man 19 years of age. This marriage has been very stormy and violent, and she is presently separated from her second husband. The maternal grandmother has no known medical problems.” MATERNAL GRANDFATHER “[Your] maternal grandfather is around 40 years of age. He has remarried for a second time and this marriage seems to have been successful. The grandfather presently has his two youngest children by his first wife living with him. He owns his own business and has done very well for himself financially. The grandfather seems to be a fairly dependable and stable individual and has no known medical problems.”
