I am hoping that someone can help me solve a mystery. I am seeking information on a woman named Frances Kopp. She was born about 1903 in New York City, the daughter of John and Lillian Braun. She had a brother named Joseph, but no other siblings are listed. We have a wedding photo of her, from sometime in the later 1920s. All that is written on the back is "Aunt Frances (Mrs. Kopp)". NO mention of the husband's name is on the picture. Frances' brother Joseph had a daughter named Irene, who is my husband's mother. On several occasions, my mom-in-law went to visit Aunt Frances while growing up. On one occasion, Irene and Aunt Frances argued, and in the process, a family secret was spilled. Irene had been told that her mother had died in childbirth. It turns out that this was not true, the woman was alive and lived only a few blocks from Irene and her father. Aunt Frances knew the identity of the mystery woman, but Irene did not want to be told until she had talked to her father. Afterwards, she was so upset that she never looked into the situation. In later life, she once told me that she wished she had. I am now in the process of doing family history research, and things we were told do not add up. Irene told me that she had some cousins, and the only possible parents for them would be Frances and her husband. In the late 1930's, they would have been living outside New York City in what Irene considered a rural area, probably in New Jersey. I would like to contact these cousins or thier descendants, as they may have the solution to this mystery, or at least a clue to point me in the right direction.
