Can anyone help with the first Cottingham descendants that migrated to Alabama? The particular areas would be Bibb County, and a place called Centerville. It would be even better if you knew these Cottinghams of Alabama owned slaves, as my particular line of descendants are African American. My family has a very old photo of a Caucasian gentleman named Thomas Cottingham, and listed are names William & Willie Cottingham. Many men in my family have these same names and they know that they were passed down generations ago but that's where it stops.
