I am of the 5th Generation( born in 1979) "Richters" on my father's side. my grandfather was Paul amel Richter('34), his father was Alvin Richter(born 1901 died 2000 in Angola, IN had 4 Sons, Paul A.Richter(Fremont ,IN) Alivn Richterof Fort Wayne, IN Terry Richter of Lagrange, IN & "Pete" Richter of Fremont, IN,He ran a repair shop in FortWayne, IN called the " OK garage". He married IVA MCDonald. My great great grandfather was Amel Paul Richter( 1870's??) from Germany but I don't know where. We are located in Northeastern Indiana, USA. I have heard my Greatgrandfather tell us that there there were two dialects of German spoken, High and Low and that our family Spoke High German. Perhaps that would indicate where they came from????
