American trying to locate gravesites of great-grandparents in Bothwell area. FROM: Jack Barron, 305 Chris Court, Noblesville, Indiana 46062 USA My wife and I will be visiting Scotland in August. We would love to visit the gravesites of my great grand parents if we can locate them. They are: Elizabeth Barron - Last trace was at the age of 67 in the 1891 Census. She and her husband were visiting the George Neilson home in Blantyre, Lanarkshire on the night of the census. She died sometime prior to the next Census in 1901. John Barron, Sr. – Last trace was at the age of 78 in the 1901 Census. The record shows him living with his son’s family John Jr. and Jane Barron in Hamilton Palace Colliery, Lanarkshire. His wife Elizabeth is not listed and is presumed to be dead by that time. We presume he died sometime between this 1901 Census and 1907, when his son migrated to the USA. It is most likely they were buried in area bounded by Bothwell, Blantyre and Hamilton. They were Protestants, so they would not have been buried in a Catholic cemetery. They most likely would have been buried in a public cemetery. I would appreciate any help you could give me to locate public cemetery records for that area for burials between 1892 and 1907. It seems the church graveyards had good records, but I am having difficulty locating records for the public ones. THANK YOU My email is abci@insightbb.com | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
