My birth parents. I was born on 10/13/67 at Queens general hospital. The adpotion was handled by spence chapin in New York. My adoption did not become final until 1971 by Queens county surrogate court. Thus the birth certificate that I have is dated for 1971. I must have been a foster child by my adoptive parents until the adoption beame final. Thus there must have been an original birth certificate with my birth parents name on it. I have always been called Michelle Callaway for as long as I can remember. But it also states that the original certificate was 10/23/67. I know that my mother was 15 and my father was 17 and that they both lived in or around the Queens, New York area. My mother was the oldest of seven children. She was described as fair skinned with short brown hair. My father was described as short, fair skinned with freckles and red hair. I have all of the adoption papers that my adoptive parents recieved but they do not name or identify my birth parents. I did contact the adoption agency in 1989 when I found out that I was adopted. I was told that I had been placed with my adoptive parents from the age of 3 weeks old. I met with a social worker who would only share non-identifiable information. I am now 40 years old and I have four children. They know that I am adopted. I want to meet my birth parents before it is too late. I know they must wonder about me the same way that I have thought about them for the past 18 years. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
