I am researching James Mayes & Harriet (Sherman) Mayes who lived in Greenville S.C. born approx. 1840-50 as slaves. Listed on 1870 Gantt Township Greenville County census with B.F. as 1st child age 5 months. Her parents were Joseph & Maria Sherman according to 1870 census from VA. James died in 1910 and Harriet died in 1929. Need copy of death cert for James and any documentation of marriage, also records of parents and/or siblings of James.
