Query Text:

Where did the Tefft name originate before coming to Rhode Island in about 1637? Is there a germanic connection as my Canadian grandfather could speak german and he was eighth generation in North America? Could the Teffts have originally migrated from Iran about a 1000 years ago as there is a city, region and river in north central Iran called Taft(pronounced Tefft)?
