I'm trying to find out if I have any living relatives in Ireland. My grandparents, Thomas Ignatius BERGIN and Sheila Sarah O'rielly, came to Canada with their first three children, Thomas Ignatius, Rose ???, and Raymond ??? in 1953 (approx.). They settled in Montreal (the city where they landed) and went on to have 4 more children, Gloria, Gina, Terry and Susie. My Grandfather, Tommy Bergin, was a skilled welder and worked for Dominion Bridge Co. throughout his time in Montreal til he & my grandmother seperated (she kicked him out because of his drinking) and later became ill with cancer and ultimately passed away. My grandmother, Shiela, still lives in Montreal (she is approx. 87) but life did not afford a close relationship between she & I, I only know a very vague story about her family having at one time had a reasonable wealth which was spent away frivolously around the 1920's(????) by a lavishly partying female (great, great, great grandmother to me?). I also remember being told about horses playing a part in my family history (breeding/training, racing ????). Since my youth I have asked the scattered members of my dad's (Thomas Ignatius Jr.) family for any information anyone can give me. I used to try and keep in touch with everyone, but I was in an accident almost 3 years ago which destroyed my life. Now, after years of rehab, lawyers, doctors, and headaches, I'm starting to get back into things I was working on before. I've lost a lot of my memory, and I don't seem to have the strength to pull all the lose strands together. I'd so love to know anything anyone could tell me about possible relatives, or even history of my Irish family tree. Sarah O'REILY, Thomas Ignatius BERGIN are the only names I have right now, but I have again sent out pleas for any information my Canadian relatives can give me.
