I am Searching for additional information on ancestors of Matt R. Russell b 07/02/1925-d 02/08/1995, of Ukiah,Ca. Mainly, his great grandparents. His father, was Guy Russell, born 03/13/1887 in, Sac City,Iowa. His father passed away 12/30/1972, in California. His mother was Caroline Grace Benton.She was born in Puyallup, Washington 11/07/1880. She passed away 03/09/1956 in Solano county, California. They were married in Sac City, Iowa. Her mothers maiden name was Donovan. Her fathers name was Nathan Parker Benton. Matts grandfather was Matthew " Matt " Russell, b 02/27/1860 in Vermilion county, Danville, Illinois. And-d 02/07/1930, in Pocahontas, Fonda, Iowa. Matts grandmother Frances Georgiana Hart-Russell was born in Henry county, Illinois, on 08/20/1859, and d- 02/29/1932.Both Matthew (Matt) and Fanny, are buried in the Cedar Twp. Cemetery, in Pocahontas county, Fonda, Iowa. They were supposed to have been married in Sac City, Iowa 05/03/1886.They had 8 children. Two passed on, before their parents. The remaining children were: Guy b.1887, Zora b.1890,Wilma b.1892,Ion b.1893,Calbert b.1895,Wilkie b.1898. They were all born in Iowa. Matt's great grandfather on his grandmothers side, was Joseph Hart b 09/02/1828.He passed away 05/04/1892, in Wilton Jct. Muscatine county, Iowa. And, his great grandmother, on his grandmothers side, was Elsie Catherine Rote-Hart, b 02/08/1837, in Ohio.She passed away 05/24/1923 in Witon Jct., Muscatine county,Iowa. Both are buried in the Oakdale cemetery, Wilton Jct., Muscatine county, Iowa. Matt's great grandparents, on his fathers side, not much is known. Matts grandmother was full blooded Sioux. Matts grandfather, was French Canadian, and Sioux. Matts grandfather, was born in Illinois. Matts grandmother was born in Illinois as well. Matts grandparents, both died from smallpox, when their son, Matthew was quite young. Young Matthew, was sent to live with a reverand Taylor, and his wife. My brother in law, Matt R.
