Searching for any Scotland records for GG-grandfather, Emmett (or Emmit) J. DAVIS born about 1851 Scotland. Parents, siblings, where born and when immigrated to U.S. Only record we find him in is an 1880 U.S. Federal Census, lived in Town of Carlton, Orleans County, N.Y., which states he was born in Scotland. Married to a MaryAnn FERRIS (her parents were born in Scotland) November 1875 and they had 2 sons G-grandfather, Earl Hugh Kirby DAVIS and a William E. DAVSIS. Emmett died sometime after 1883 when he was employed at a Carriage Works Factory in Monroe County, NY. MaryAnn is a widow in 1890 U.S. Census. Thinking the HUGH or KIRBY could be a link to his father’s name or mother’s maiden name. Probably came over to U.S. in late 1860’s or early 70’s. Also, wondering if he was an orphan??? Would appreciate any look-ups and would really love to hear from any DAVIS descendants of Emmett left in Scotland or if there were more that came to the USA. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||
