I am trying to find information on the McGowen family in County Clare. Family records show that John McGowen and his wife Susan Coughlan had a son, Thomas in 1846 in Glenmore townland, Kilmihil Parish, County Clare. They moved to the US in 1848. John's parents were Thomas McGowen and Bridget (O'Day - or O'Dea). I have not found any McGowens (or MacGowens, McGowans, etc) in County Clare but I see that there are McGuanes and I am wondering if perhaps my family changed their name when they moved. I have only been able to find info in Kilmihil starting in 1849 so no luck there. Any information would be appreciated! | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
