I am looking for information on a William Carmichael (believed to be from Kirkwall and St Ola, Orkney in Scotland) who emigrated to Adelaide, Australia in 1939 aboard the Moffat. He later married a Justina/Gustina/Christiana Ross who I am unable to find any information on. I believe they had two children - Barbara (records indicate her mother is Christiana Ross) and John Duncan (who I have obtained a birth certificate for - the mother is stated as Gustina Ross). Given the high levels of illiteracy at the time there is a high probability that this person is one and the same and the name was written incorrectly. I am unable to find any marriage, birth, death records for any women roughly fitting this name. I believe she was born around 1832 or so and probably emigrated to Australia (though this is just an assumption). Help would be much appreciated. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
