I am a descendant of Lt. Col James Steen of Union District, S. C. who died in the Revolutionary War. My line is his daughter Sarah Steen, then Thomas Jefferson Steen, then William Thomas Steen, George Howe Steen, and then my father George Waddell Steen. The family started in S. C. and moved to Mississippi during Thomas Jefferson Steen's life. I am trying to get vital records from this family line in order to become a member of the DAR. Both South Carolina and Mississippi did not keep these records before the early 1900. I have written to the Mississippi Department of Archives and History. They may be of some help. In South Carolina, there Dept. of Health (Vital Data) suggest that I hire a person to do a search for me. Does anyone have any information about any of the people I have listed that you would share? Or could you tell me a way to get this information? Thank you very much for your help. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
