Can anyone help finish the foillowing story of my ancestors: The Story of my great great great grandmother whoses maiden name was AMELIA WARREN and my Ancestry. (written by Amelia Elizabeth (Warren) Oliver.) It is a bit peculiar, but I fancy that it was left to ME to tell all about 'the story' (and gosh! perhaps even solve the mystery of AMELIA HATTON (nee Warren.) For as far as OUR history (& ancestry) is concerned, I don't know of anybody else who could do it better.
Maybe my theory of what could have happened at THE INN in those days of long ago in London, is not such an extravagant or impossible one at all. Amelia was well bred, evidently came from a notable family and she played the Harp. Remember, I write of the possibility, if not actually, the probability. I do not know who played the part of "The DUCHESS" in the movie (never tried to find out.) But more anon;

Some years after I had married Charles Warren, I found out from an old birth or marriage certificate I had acquired, that AMELIA WARREN was the maiden name of my Great Grandmother on mother's side of the family, and that in marrying Chas, I had become Amelia Warren (agaain). I became even more interested in this lady of my ancestory. I am now a great grandmother too, but when I was only a little girl, my mother had told me all she knew of the story handed down to her by HER mother. I thought it was a very romantic one, and absorbed it in my young days perhaps, in a way, more than my sisters did. For instance, by the time MAVIS was around years later, our mum had had seven children (Jim, Amelia, Elsie, Lily, Reggie,Mavis, Henry) Also, by then, the photo on dark glass that mum kept on the mantlepiece 'out of the light', might have faded completely. It had been a link in the story and admired from time to time, but the photo was fast fading even in my day. It was of a man, rather Italian looking and we thought very handsome. He was MICHEAL HATTON, a mariner and a 'north of Italy man', mum said. But HATTON is an English name, not Italian, and I could never account for that......... | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
