I am looking for the Petree family of Boyd or Greenup County KY. We think the father was Joseph and his wife's name was Mary. We believe they had 5 children: Joseph (born 1858 in Catlettsburg KY), Kate, Stella (born 1864 in KY), Lou, & Mollie. Both parents died (Joseph Sr. might have been killed in the Civil War). According to family story, Joseph was "adopted" by a Riverboat Captain & his wife (William & Mary Cooley Brumfield)about 1872. He took the Brumfield name and raised a family in Jackson County Ohio. Stella married Frank Bell and lived in Beaumont Texas. This we know for sure. I am trying to find out about either or both sets of Joseph's parents.
