Looking for anyone with knowledge of Viola M. "Ola" and Annie/Maggie Hearse or Hurst b.abt 1895 AR. I believe that Ola and Annie Hearse were "informally adopted" by the John and Martha McCormack family of Stilwell, OK, between 1900-1910; the McCormack family moved to the Tulsa, OK area between 1910-1920, Ola moved to Tulsa with the McCormacks, but Annie has not been found to have moved there with them. We do not know if Annie Hearse/Hurst married, however, it is believed that she lived in Vinita, OK at one time. It is believed that she wrote a letter sometime during the 1960s to her long-lost sister, Ola (Hurst-McCormack) Fraser, who lived in Henryetta, OK. The following is a brief explanation of how Annie or Maggie Hearse/Hurst came to live in Oklahoma with the McCormack family: John M. Mayfield b.abt.1840 AR m.Tennessee Ann Whorton b.abt.1843 AR, had nine children--one of them was Manda E. MAYFIELD b.abt.1868 AR, she married "Frank" Francis M. HURST in 1891, Johnson County, AR. In 1900 Amanda and Frank were living in Esculapia Twp, Benton County, AR with four children: Finis (listed as a Hurst, but actually the son of Amanda's first marriage to Artemus Easterday), George S(idney), Maggie, and Viola M. By 1910 Amanda is dead, Frank is listed as a widower, living in Johnson County AR with his sister-in-law and her husband, James T. and Nancy J. (Mayfield) MARTIN; none of Frank's children are with him, but George S(idney) is living nearby with Manda and Nancy's brother, Layfayette "Fate" Mayfield and his wife Ida. By 1910, the daughters of Frank and Amanda (Mayfield) Hurst have dropped out of sight in Arkansas, they are not living with any of the Hurst or Mayfield families there. I believe Maggie and Viola M. were "given" to the John and Martha McCormack family in Oklahoma, where they became known as Annie and "Ola" (short for Viola). Ola grew up and became my grandmother; it is unknown what happened to Ola's sister, Annie/Maggie. I am very desirous of having cousinship DNA tests performed, to determine whether Ola's family is indeed descended from Frank and Amanda (Mayfield) Hurst. I am looking for any descendants of John Mayfield and Tennessee Ann (Whorton) Mayfield--but descendants of Frank and Amanda (Mayfield) Hurst are even more desirable for my purpose. George Sidney Hurst, the son of Frank and Manda is known to have living descendants: George Sidney Hurst married 1st Bertha H. (maiden name unknown); Sidney and Bertha had at least one child, Goldie Dursom Hurst born 1913 in Coal Hill, Johnson County, AR. Dursom, as she was called, married William Arthur McBride and lived in Eatonville, Pierce County, WA at the time of her death in 2005. Dursom and William had the following children: Billie Dean McBride married Ron Morrison; Joyce Cheryl McBride married L.C. Campbell; Terry Allen McBride married Cynthia (maiden name unknown); Douglas Ray McBride married Merrilee (maiden name unknown); Peggy Jean McBride; and Kevin Zane McBride. George Sidney Hurst married 2nd Annie Lou Sanders, they had at least five children: George Sidney Jr. (1933-1993); Bobby F. (1935-1947); and Judy Hurst who married a Ziegenfelder.
