Searching for information about the Deal Reunion. The first was held at the home of Arthur A Deal in Alexander County, NC on July 4th 1909. It was called a meeting and was simply a meeting of the ten sons and only living daugher of Eli Davidson Deal, a great-grandson of William Diehl (or Deal, the emigrant. I am a descendant of this same Deal. They suspended the meeting during WWI for fear these gatherings might be considered something else since we are German Descendants and we were at war with Germany. The last mention of any reunions, they called them meetings, was in 1938. The information I have did say that the past several years the time of the Dealreunions was on Thursday before the 3rd Sunday in August. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||
