Family legend tells that my great-grandfather, T.J. or Joe Thompson, killed a man in Knox Co TN and went west to Arkansas (first) then Pittsburg Co, OK. He changed his name from Wallace to Thompson. This event happened after he married in 1871ish. His DOB is reported as 2 Feb 1847 in Knox Co TN and he married a Martha Clemintine Longmire with a DOB of 18 Oct 1847 in Knoxville TN. His parents might have been Thomas Wallace w/ DOB of 1819 in Anderson Co TN and DOD of 9 May 1898 in Warrenburg MO and Hannah Hibbs w/ no info. Her parents may have been William Longmire, born 1823, and Nancy Loy, born 1823. Any information about the Wallace - Thompson connection or references regarding the killing would be greatly appreciated.
