Female born in Chicago May 1943. Looking for birth family. I was born May 8, 1943 in St. Lukes Hospital in Cook County, Chicago, IL. My mother, according to state records, was 23 at the time of my birth and had no former children. There is no father listed. I am of medium height and build with brown eyes and hair. I was told by my adoptive father, William Stix Friedman, I was of Polish Jewish heritage. I was in foster care through Chicago Orphan Asylum, but my adoption was apparently not handled by that agency. I grew up in St. Louis, MO. It is possible that my adoption was handled through either an attorney or an agency in St. Louis though it could have been handled through someone in Chicago. Are you my relative? Do you have suggestions of how to proceed, since I have hit a brick wall in my search for my birth family. UPDATE I have found my birth family and what a joy it is. Not only was the information I had faulty, but my brothers (on my father's side) also had faulty information. It all came out in the end thanks to Midwest Adoption Services and the confidential intermediary program. For Chicago or Illinois searchers, this is your very best bet. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
