I'm trying to find the link between our descendant, Samuel Morris and Robert Morris, who signed the Declaration of Independence. The information I have on Samuel Morris: b. 1770 or 1772 in Monmouth Co., NJ d. approx. Oct 20, 1812 (family records indicate Samuel left out of Duck Creek, WV on a flat boat and was never seen again. There was Indian trouble in the area and he was declared dead on Oct 20, 1812). m. Rebecca Smith 20 Jan 1796 (b. 1 Sep 1772) Samuel had three children with Rebecca: Elizabeth (1797-1882) James Benjamin Morris (1799-1886) Jane Morris (1813-1896) I haven't been able to find anything on Samuel's parents..a dead end. If I could find a copy of Samuel and Rebecca's marriage certificate, that might show Samuel's parents names which would help me in my quest. We are supposed to be lineal desdendants of Robert Morris (1734-1750). | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
